Florida Woman Arrested After Allegedly Leaving Four Children, Including Infant, Alone for Cruise
A 29-year-old Florida woman has been arrested after she allegedly left her four minor children, including a two-month-old infant, alone at home while she went on a three-day cruise to the Bahamas.
Nathalie Belizaire of North Miami Beach is facing four counts of child neglect without great bodily harm, according to police.
North Miami Beach police said the father of one of the children noticed a WhatsApp story posted by Belizaire on Thursday showing what appeared to be a cruise ticket purchase.
According to the arrest report, Belizaire told him that she planned to leave the children with their great-grandmother.
However, when the man went to Belizaire’s apartment on Saturday night, he noticed that the television was on and heard children inside the residence. He subsequently called 911.
Police officers and Miami-Dade Fire Rescue personnel responded to the scene and forced entry into the apartment.
Authorities said they found all four children inside the residence without adult supervision. The children were reportedly hiding together in the bathroom when officers entered.
Police said several attempts to contact Belizaire were unsuccessful.
An investigation reportedly found that Belizaire had purchased a three-day ticket aboard the Carnival Conquest to the Bahamas, with the cruise scheduled to depart on September 25.
She was subsequently arrested and charged in connection with the alleged incident.
