The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) has successfully conducted its 2026 promotion exercise for more than 10,005 personnel nationwide, in what the Corps described as one of the largest promotion exercises in its history.

The exercise, overseen by the Corps Marshal, Shehu Mohammed, involved 3,597 Intermediate Rank Officers and 6,408 Junior Officers across the country and was driven by the deployment of modern Information and Communication Technology (ICT) platforms aimed at ensuring transparency, fairness and inclusiveness.

According to the Corps, the technology-driven approach eliminated administrative bottlenecks, enhanced operational efficiency and provided all eligible personnel with equal opportunities to compete based on merit, competence and performance.

The promotion exercise commenced across the 12 Zonal Commands on June 14, 2026, with the deployment of monitoring cameras to strengthen oversight and ensure compliance with established guidelines.

To guarantee credibility and transparency, representatives of the Corps Marshal supervised the exercise, while observers from the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation and the Federal Character Commission monitored the process in line with the FRSC Promotion Policy and the Federal Character Principle.

A major highlight of the exercise was the participation of officers undertaking academic and professional programmes outside Nigeria. Through the use of ICT platforms, affected personnel were able to take part in the promotion process remotely without interrupting their studies.

The Corps said the initiative reflects the Corps Marshal’s commitment to ensuring that no eligible officer is disadvantaged due to geographical location or participation in self-development programmes.

FRSC noted that the promotion exercise aligns with the Corps Marshal’s vision of building a highly motivated, professional and future-ready workforce where excellence, innovation, dedication and commitment are recognised and rewarded.

The Corps added that the successful conduct of the exercise underscores ongoing reforms aimed at improving staff welfare, strengthening institutional capacity and leveraging technology to enhance service delivery.

The Corps maintained that the exercise reinforces the principle that professionalism, hard work and dedication remain key requirements for career advancement within the organisation while supporting its broader mandate of promoting road safety across the country.

The statement was signed by the Corps Public Education Officer, Deputy Corps Commander Osondu Ohaeri.
