IGP Unveils POCACOV Compendium, Reaffirms Commitment to Preventive Policing

The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, has unveiled a compendium documenting the achievements of the Police Campaign Against Cultism and Other Vices (POCACOV), reaffirming the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to preventive policing and community-based crime prevention.

According to a statement by the Force, the publication highlights the milestones, impact and nationwide activities of POCACOV, showcasing its efforts to combat social vices through public awareness, education and strategic community engagement.

The compendium outlines the initiative’s sustained advocacy campaigns against cultism, drug abuse, cybercrime, bullying and other criminal activities, particularly among young people.

It also highlights POCACOV’s youth empowerment programmes and its collaboration with schools, religious and traditional institutions, civil society organisations and other stakeholders to address crime through prevention rather than enforcement alone.

The Inspector-General said the unveiling of the publication reflects the Nigeria Police Force’s determination to strengthen preventive policing through public enlightenment, innovation and closer collaboration with communities in building a safer, more secure and crime-free Nigeria.
