The Zuru Emirate in Kebbi State has on Tuesday submitted the lists of profiled of Yansakai (vigilante group) to the State government.
According to the Chairman of Zuru Emirate District heads forum, Alhaji Muhammadu Yawa Ushe, the list was a product of a lengthy period of the process of identifying and profiling genuine members of the local security agents.
He explained that Dabai Chiefdom alone had a total of 4,598 profiled members while Wasagu Chiefdom has 1,254 members; Sakaba Chiefdom 2,735 profiled members; Danko Chiefdom 501 profiled members; Fakai Chiefdom 307 members.
According to him, a total of 9,392 members of the group were identified and profiled across Zuru Emirate. Yawa further explained that the profiling includes the educational and non-educational status with the view of incorporating it if the need arise.
Receiving the report on behalf of Governor Atiku Bagudu, the Deputy Governor, Col. Sama’ila Yombe Dabai (rtd) said: “the Governor of Kebbi State Senator Abubakar Atiku Bagudu have already constituted a committee under his watch on the profiling and restructuring of the Yansakai prior to the meeting in Abuja with IGP”.
Dabai who congratulated the committee for the job well done, lamented that, the moment the services of Yansakai were needed, they became judges interfering into marital, debt, land, and royalty disputes.
The Deputy Governor, who disclosed that the state government will no longer tolerate such attitude, said that they ought to be assisting security agencies not deciding on cases or issues.
