The Wife of the Kogi State Governor, Sefinat Ahmed Ododo, has distributed food items and empowered 500 women and vulnerable persons across Okunland as part of efforts to alleviate hardship and improve the livelihoods of residents.
The empowerment programme, held in Kabba-Bunu Local Government Area, brought together beneficiaries from the five local government areas that make up the Okun axis of the state.
As part of the initiative, each beneficiary received a cash grant of ₦50,000 in addition to food items aimed at providing immediate relief and supporting small-scale economic activities.
Mrs. Ododo said the programme was designed to complement ongoing efforts to improve the welfare of women, vulnerable groups and low-income households across the state.
She noted that empowering women remains critical to strengthening families, promoting economic growth and enhancing community development.
The Kogi First Lady also encouraged beneficiaries to make productive use of the financial support to improve their businesses and household income.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the intervention, describing it as timely support amid prevailing economic challenges.
The event attracted participants from across the five local government areas of Okunland and forms part of broader social intervention programmes targeted at improving the well-being of vulnerable residents in Kogi State.
