NAF Airstrikes Destroy Terrorist Enclave, Neutralise Scores in Borno
The Nigerian Air Force (NAF), through the Air Component of Operation HADIN KAI, has recorded another major breakthrough in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign with precision airstrikes that destroyed a terrorist enclave at Yaganari in the Gezuwa general area of Borno State.
The successful operation was carried out on 10 July 2026 following credible intelligence indicating renewed terrorist activities and the concentration of fighters within the area.
According to the Nigerian Air Force, intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR) missions conducted before the operation confirmed the existence of terrorist structures and logistics hubs being used by the insurgents.
Based on the intelligence gathered, NAF aircraft launched a series of precision strikes on the identified targets, destroying key terrorist infrastructure and neutralising several insurgents.
The Air Force stated that the operation has further weakened the operational capability of the terrorists, whose freedom of movement and ability to regroup continue to be significantly degraded through sustained air offensives across the North-East.
The Chief of the Air Staff (CAS), Air Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke, commended the personnel involved in the operation for their professionalism, courage and precision in executing the mission.
He reaffirmed the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to sustaining relentless offensive operations against terrorist groups and other threats to national security.
“The Nigerian Air Force will continue to deliver decisive air power in concert with surface forces to hunt down, disrupt and destroy terrorist elements wherever they may seek refuge. We remain committed to ensuring that terrorists have no safe haven and no opportunity to recover their capabilities,” the Air Chief said.
Air Marshal Aneke stressed that the Armed Forces of Nigeria remain resolute in consolidating the significant gains already achieved in the ongoing counter-terrorism campaign, assuring Nigerians that military operations would continue until lasting peace and security are restored across the country.
The latest airstrike is part of the sustained joint military offensive under Operation HADIN KAI aimed at dismantling terrorist networks, disrupting their logistics and denying them operational bases in the North-East.
Air Commodore Ehimen Ejodame, Director of Public Relations and Information, Headquarters Nigerian Air Force, confirmed the development in a statement issued on 11 July 2026.
