On the same day, two Angolan nationals—Mbandu Martins Makiadi, 50, and Ngoma Wilson Fernando, 52—were intercepted at the departure hall of the Mallam Aminu Kano International Airport, Kano, while attempting to travel to Istanbul via Addis Ababa on Ethiopian Airlines flight ET940. Both tested positive for drug ingestion and later excreted a combined 184 wraps of cocaine weighing over 2.2 kilograms. The suspects claimed they were promised $3,000 each for delivering the consignments in Turkey.
Convicted Kingpin Linked to London Shipment
At the Murtala Muhammed International Airport, Lagos, NDLEA operatives thwarted an attempt to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine concealed in processed cassava granules (garri) to London on a Virgin Atlantic flight.
Investigations revealed the operation was allegedly masterminded from the Ikoyi Correctional Centre by Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, who is serving a five-year sentence following a 2025 conviction for cocaine trafficking. A staff member of his company, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan, was arrested after presenting the consignment for export.
In a related case, a 44-year-old estate surveyor, Adelaja Taiwo Adetayo, was arrested for attempting to export 1.70 kilograms of skunk hidden in five jerry cans to the United Kingdom. A cargo agent linked to the consignment was also apprehended.

In Lagos, operatives raided a four-bedroom duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, used for the production and storage of “Colos,” a synthetic cannabis variant. The operation followed the seizure of 73 cartons of nitrous oxide along the Ajah–Epe Expressway. Authorities recovered 13.2 kilograms of freshly produced synthetic cannabis and precursor chemicals. Two suspects were arrested in connection with the facility.

Ongoing Sensitisation Campaign
The agency also continued its War Against Drug Abuse (WADA) sensitisation programmes in schools and communities nationwide, including outreach activities in Oyo, Adamawa, Nasarawa, Katsina, and Lagos states.
NDLEA Chairman and Chief Executive Officer, Mohamed Buba Marwa (Rtd), commended officers across various commands for their professionalism and urged sustained efforts in both drug supply and demand reduction.
The statement was signed by Femi Babafemi, Director of Media & Advocacy, NDLEA Headquarters, Abuja, on February 15, 2026.
