In a paper titled, “Effective Commodity Aggregation: Bridging the Gap in Nigeria Agricultural Value Chain,” Garba said the country was ranked third on the index of Sesame exporting countries in 2019, in spite of some challenges.
He listed the challenges to include fragmented internal markets; poor linkages, unconnected trader/processor relations, unchecked middlemen, among others.
To address these challenges, Garba said a systematic out-grower, aggregation and commodity logistics need to be developed for sustainability and economic prosperity of the country through the agro-industrial sector.
In his remarks, the Director of the Centre, Professor Jibrin Muhammad, reiterated commitment of the university to connect the industry players with the institution for the benefit of students and researchers, to enable them to grasp the real time information of the industry.
