Nigeria, Japan Deepen Partnership to Boost Creative Economy, Cultural Exchange

Nigeria and Japan are set to strengthen collaboration in the creative and cultural sectors as both countries explore new opportunities to drive innovation, investment and economic growth.

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, disclosed this after receiving the Ambassador of Japan to Nigeria, His Excellency Suzuki Hideo, for high-level discussions on expanding bilateral cooperation.

Musawa said Japan’s global success in leveraging culture and creativity as drivers of economic development offers valuable lessons and partnership opportunities as Nigeria continues to position its creative economy as a key pillar of national growth.

According to the Minister, the meeting focused on strengthening collaboration in animation, film, music, fashion, gaming, tourism and cultural exchange, while exploring initiatives that will promote innovation, skills development and investment.

She noted that the partnership is expected to create new opportunities for creatives, enhance cultural ties between both countries and support the Federal Government’s efforts to unlock the full potential of Nigeria’s creative and tourism industries.

The discussions reaffirmed the shared commitment of Nigeria and Japan to deepening cultural diplomacy and fostering mutually beneficial partnerships that will drive sustainable growth in the creative economy.
