Nigeria Reaffirms Commitment to African Tourism Growth at UN Regional Meeting

The Minister of Art, Culture, Tourism and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musawa, has reaffirmed Nigeria’s commitment to strengthening tourism across Africa through greater regional collaboration and sustainable development.

Musawa made the pledge while co-chairing the 69th Meeting of the United Nations Tourism Regional Commission for Africa (CAF) in Victoria, Seychelles. Nigeria participated in the meeting in its capacity as the First Vice Chair of the Commission.

According to the minister, discussions at the meeting focused on developing human capital, improving connectivity across the continent, expanding opportunities within the tourism sector, and promoting tourism as a key driver of inclusive economic growth.

She stressed that Nigeria remains committed to working closely with other African countries to build a more resilient, competitive and sustainable tourism industry that reflects the continent’s vast cultural and economic potential.

Musawa added that stronger regional cooperation would help unlock new opportunities, boost investment and position Africa as a leading global tourism destination.
