Nigerian Navy Commissions New Infrastructure Projects at Logistics College in Kano
As part of activities marking the Nigerian Navy’s 70th anniversary, the Chief of the Naval Staff, Idi Abbas, has commissioned newly completed infrastructure projects at the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Dawakin Tofa, Kano State.
The commissioning ceremony, held on May 26, brought together senior military officers, representatives of security agencies, traditional leaders, and other dignitaries.
The newly inaugurated facilities include a four-classroom block, a block of 16 two-bedroom flats, and two blocks containing 20 one-bedroom flats designed to improve learning conditions and personnel welfare within the institution.
Representing the Chief of the Naval Staff at the event, the Navy Secretary, Abdul-Hamin Baba-Inna, said the projects reflect the Federal Government’s commitment to infrastructure development and the welfare of military personnel.
He noted that investing in educational and residential facilities remains critical to enhancing operational effectiveness, professional development, and the overall well-being of officers and ratings.
In his remarks, the Commandant of the Nigerian Navy Logistics College, Abubakar Ahmad Madawaki, expressed appreciation to the Naval Headquarters for its continued support and investment in the growth of the institution.
Madawaki said the new facilities would significantly enhance the college’s capacity to deliver quality training while providing improved accommodation for personnel.
The ceremony was attended by representatives of the Nigerian Army, the Nigerian Air Force, the Kano State Police Command, other security agencies, as well as the traditional ruler and Chief Imam of Dawakin Tofa.
Activities marking the occasion also included a tree-planting exercise, the signing of the visitors’ register, presentation of souvenirs, and a vote of thanks delivered by the Deputy Commandant of the college, Captain A.A. Jaiyeola.
The projects form part of the Nigerian Navy’s efforts to strengthen training institutions and improve personnel welfare as the Service commemorates seven decades of operations and service to the nation.
