Nigerians Drags Gbajabiamila Over Enrollment At American University
Nigerians have reacted to the enrollment of the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, at Harvard University.
It had earlier been reported that the Speaker enrolled on a leadership course at the Harvard Kennedy School, Harvard University in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
In a tweet via his verified Twitter page on Tuesday, Gbajabiamila shared pictures of himself receiving a lecture alongside some other classmates at the institution.

The Speaker asserted that one is never too old to learn to broaden or sharpen his or her skills.
Gbajabiamila’s tweet comes hours after the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) embarked on a solidarity protest with the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) over the ongoing strike by the union.
Below are some reactions from Nigerians.
@DeeOneAyekooto wrote: “I am a witness to Mr. Speaker’s intervention at the beginning of ASUU strike, he devoted his time and energy to resolving the crisis, as the Speaker, he almost acted like an executive but he can only advise both parties, he did that excellently.”
@Imudia_se2 wrote: “Oga Femi, ASUU are on strike for over 4 months which has affected over 8 million youths, directly and indirectly, your constituent has a high rate of youth roaming about streets jobless, smoking la -la, and picking what is not theirs.”
@chineduanaz wrote: “Universities in Nigeria are on strike. Your government has failed to resolve the issues but you have chosen to fly off to Harvard to “broaden and sharpen your skills”. Would you be studying there if these Universities proceed on strike? Fix our land.”
@MrSomoye wrote: “It’s the Speaker’s diplomatic intervention that’s been holding off Asuu strike action since 2020, Rep. Femi is the head of the legislative arm, not the executive arm.
“The execution of ASUU’s demand is not under National Assembly’s jurisdiction. I hope you understand.”
@NamexTechnocrat wrote: “Nigerian students are at home because universities are on strike for over 4 months, but you’re at Harvard hyping education. @Kennedy_School These are the embarrassments representing Nigeria in our hallowed chambers. Offering nothing to their constituents. Look them in the eye.”
@FS_Yusuf_ wrote: “Oga, ASUU dey strike o. 15 million kids are out of school. Thousands of young people in Surulere are home and not going to school. Weldone.”
@Ambrosia_Ijebu wrote: “Congrats. Did you tell your coursemates there that the government Universities in the country paying your school fees have all been shut down for nearly one academic session?”
