Operation FANSAN YAMMA Troops Recover 147 Rustled Livestock, Three Motorcycles in Sokoto
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have recovered 147 rustled livestock and three motorcycles during a successful counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operation in Shagari Local Government Area of Sokoto State.
The operation followed a distress call indicating that suspected terrorists were moving a large number of rustled animals through communities in the area.
Acting swiftly on the information, the troops deployed to a strategic crossing point in Horo Birni village, where they laid an ambush for the suspected terrorists.
According to military sources, the suspects abandoned the livestock and fled into the surrounding bush after sighting the troops, taking advantage of the difficult terrain to evade capture.
During a subsequent exploitation of the area, the troops recovered 101 cows, 44 sheep and two camels, bringing the total number of recovered livestock to 147. Three motorcycles believed to have been used by the suspects during their criminal activities were also recovered.
The recovered animals have since been identified and handed over to their rightful owners, providing relief to the affected communities.
The successful operation highlights the continued efforts of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt the activities of terrorists, bandits and other criminal elements across the North-West.
The military has reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven operations aimed at dismantling criminal networks, recovering stolen property and strengthening the safety and security of communities across the region.
