Operation FANSAN YAMMA: Troops Rescue 14 Kidnap Victims, Recover AK-47 in Katsina
Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have rescued 14 kidnapped victims and recovered an AK-47 rifle, ammunition and a motorcycle during clearance operations in Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, conducted on September 25, 2026, forms part of sustained efforts to dismantle terrorist networks and restrict the activities of criminal elements across the area.
According to the operational account, troops on routine security patrol along the Faskari axis intercepted a group of suspected terrorists and engaged them in a gun battle. The troops’ superior tactical capability and firepower forced the suspects to flee into the surrounding terrain.
A subsequent clearance operation led to the rescue of 14 abducted persons, comprising 12 males and two females. Preliminary assessments indicated that the victims were abducted from Anguwan Miko and Tafoki communities in Faskari LGA.
The rescued victims have received necessary medical attention and support, while efforts are ongoing to reunite them with their families.
In a related operation within the same area, troops also thwarted an attempted attack by suspected terrorists.
Following the engagement, the troops recovered an AK-47 rifle, quantities of 7.62mm special ammunition and a motorcycle reportedly used by the suspects.
The operation highlights ongoing efforts by troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt kidnapping and terrorist networks, rescue abducted persons and recover weapons used by criminal elements operating in Katsina State.
