Osun set to host mineral, agricultural resources trade fair

Osun State Government has unveiled plans to host an agricultural and mineral resources trade fair as part of efforts to showcase the State’s potentials in both sectors.
Recall that Osun, under the leadership of Governor Adegboyega Oyetola, announced that it is anchoring its economic diversification plans on mining, agriculture and tourism.
The state government at the unveiling of the event, described the proposed fair as another fall-out of the Economic and Investment Summit held in 2019 by the administration of Oyetola.
Addressing journalists on the proposed mineral and agricultural resources fair, the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry, Dr Olabode Olaonipekun said, the fair is open to the participation of all states in South-West Nigeria to showcase their mineral and agricultural resources.
According to Olaonipekun, the two-week trade fair, scheduled to hold between 16 and 28 November 2021, will also attract both local and foreign investors.
In his remarks, the Chairman, House committee on Commerce, Honourable Lateef Jayeola, lauded the Oyetola-led government of Osun for its consistent drive and initiatives to get the state of Osun industrialized on all fronts.
He harped on the need to enlist greater participation of youths to further promote the youth development agenda of the government.
The Commissioner for Agriculture and Food security, Honourable Dayo Adewole, lauded the initiative, describing it as a good platform for farmers in the State and in the entire South-West to showcase their products and services to the rest of the world.

The Commissioner for Information and Civic Orientation, Mrs Funke Egbemode, also commended the initiative, adding that the last time something close to the event was done, was about two decades back.
Egbemode, who was represented by the Coordinating Director of the Ministry, Mrs Bukola Aderibigbe, said the fair will serve as a veritable avenue for stakeholders in the agriculture and mining sectors to interface with other local, national and international role players.
A Consultant to the Fair, Mr Owoyemi Olalekan, lauded the Osun government for its impact in both sectors even before the proposal to hold a fair.
