Police Bust Alleged Baby Factory in Ogun, Rescue Two Pregnant Women, Four Children
The Ogun State Police Command has uncovered an alleged baby factory at Abaren Village in the Mowe area of the state, rescuing two pregnant women and four children during an intelligence-led operation.
The operation, conducted on August 24, 2026, also led to the arrest of six suspects, including a nurse, according to the Deputy Police Public Relations Officer of the command, ASP Oluborode Emmanuel Opeyemi, in a statement issued on Tuesday.
The two rescued pregnant women were identified as 23-year-old Ilesanmi Foluke, who is seven months pregnant, and 20-year-old Ejekwa Melody, who is eight months pregnant.
Following further intelligence gathered during the operation, police operatives extended their investigation to a hospital within the Mowe axis, where they discovered that a woman identified as Blessing Bright Effiong had recently delivered a baby boy.
According to the police, the newborn could not be accounted for, raising further concerns and leading to the arrest of the attending nurse.
The command said the case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Eleweran, Abeokuta, for comprehensive investigation and efforts to locate the missing newborn.
The police assured the public that the investigation would be pursued to uncover the circumstances surrounding the alleged operation and establish the roles of all those involved.
Authorities also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities involving the welfare, trafficking or unlawful movement of children to security agencies.
