Residents Cheer Troops as Operation FANSAN YAMMA Displays Recovered Motorcycles in Zamfara
Residents of Gummi town in Zamfara State on Thursday applauded troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA after military personnel arrived with motorcycles recovered from armed bandits during a recent counter-ambush operation in the North-West.
The recovered motorcycles, transported on an Armoured Personnel Carrier (APC), were being conveyed to the Headquarters of the Joint Task Force, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, as part of exhibits recovered during the military operation.
The operation, according to military reports, resulted in the neutralisation of more than 100 suspected terrorists while several operational assets used by the criminal groups were recovered.
Eyewitnesses said residents lined the streets as the military convoy passed through Gummi, applauding the troops and expressing appreciation for their sustained efforts to restore peace and security across Zamfara State and other parts of the North-West.
Many residents described the recovery of the motorcycles as another indication that the ongoing military offensive is weakening the operational capacity of armed groups by denying them mobility and logistics.
The spontaneous show of support also reflected growing public confidence in Operation FANSAN YAMMA, with community members commending the courage, professionalism and sacrifices of the troops in confronting insecurity across the region.
Security analysts have consistently noted that motorcycles remain one of the primary means of transportation used by terrorists and bandits to carry out attacks and evade security forces due to the difficult terrain in many parts of the North-West. Their recovery is therefore seen as a significant operational gain capable of disrupting future criminal activities.
