The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday suspended its house rules to welcome family members and close relatives of the late Senator Ifeanyi Ubah to a valedictory session held in his honor.
The solemn event began with Senate President Godswill Akpabio directing attention to Ubah’s seat, draped in the Nigerian flag and flanked by four symbolic candles, a poignant tribute to the late legislator.
Akpabio described the day as one dedicated to celebrating the life and legacy of the Anambra Senator, who passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 52.
He lauded Ubah as a visionary leader and an empathetic advocate for economic empowerment and community development.
“He was a businessman with extraordinary empathy for all, a true champion of economic empowerment, and a pillar of community development,” Akpabio remarked.
Reflecting on the impact of Ubah’s passing, Akpabio lamented, “His death is a huge deficit in the political terrain of the country.”
The valedictory session brought senators, family members, and colleagues together to honor a man whose contributions to the nation will not be forgotten.
