Idris made this known on Wednesday during the unveiling of the 75th anniversary logo of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) at Radio House in Abuja.
He said the Tinubu administration is investing heavily in infrastructure to strengthen public broadcasting, including the deployment of new 50-kilowatt medium-wave transmitters in Kaduna, Ibadan, Enugu, and Gwagwalada.
“With these investments, FRCN will further extend its reach and strengthen its leadership voice across Nigeria’s vast radio landscape,” the minister stated.
Idris noted that reforms in the information sector are not limited to infrastructure but are also focused on promoting openness, accountability, and citizen engagement.
“A strong media and an engaged citizenry are the twin pillars of any thriving democracy,” he said, urging FRCN to continue amplifying the voices of Nigerians and fostering constructive national dialogue.
He described FRCN as a vital national institution that has played a key role in uniting the country over the past 75 years.
“For three-quarters of a century, FRCN has done more than broadcast. It has uplifted the people and united the nation,” he added.
The minister also commended the corporation’s management and staff for their dedication, describing the newly unveiled anniversary logo as a symbol of trust and a promise for the future.
In his remarks, the Director-General of FRCN, Mohammed Bulama, expressed appreciation to the Federal Government for its continued support.
He said the anniversary marks both a celebration of FRCN’s legacy and a renewed commitment to innovation, professionalism, and public service broadcasting.
Bulama assured that the corporation would continue to adapt to evolving technologies while fulfilling its mandate to inform, educate, and unite Nigerians.
The event attracted top government officials and media stakeholders, including Babagana Kingibe and heads of major broadcast organisations, underscoring the significance of FRCN’s milestone in Nigeria’s media landscape.
