Nigeria is set to host a landmark global communications gathering this November as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema have confirmed their participation in the 2026 World Public Relations Forum (WPRF) as Chief Host and Keynote Speaker respectively.

The announcement was made by the Global Alliance for Public Relations and Communication Management, which described the high-level endorsements as a strong signal of Africa’s readiness to host what it called the “biggest, brightest and boldest” edition of the forum.

Speaking from Portugal, the Alliance’s president, Justin Green, said the involvement of two African heads of state underscores the continent’s growing influence in shaping global communication standards.

“This is a clear indication that Africa is ready to present a defining moment for public relations on the global stage,” he said, adding that the forum would bring together participants from over 126 countries.

The week-long event, scheduled for November 15–21 in Abuja, will focus on the theme “Responsible Communication: The Voice of the World.” According to Green, the theme aligns with ongoing advocacy to recognize responsible communication as the 18th Sustainable Development Goal.

Other notable global figures expected at the forum include Melissa Fleming, the United Nations Under-Secretary-General for Global Communications, and Samuel Heath, Director of Communications at INTERPOL, both of whom will serve as speakers.

Reacting to the development, President of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Ike Neliaku, said preparations are in top gear to deliver a world-class event.

He noted that the institute is collaborating with the African Public Relations Association (APRA) and other professional bodies across Africa to ensure the forum reflects the continent’s unique perspectives and excellence.

“With strong partnerships and collective commitment, Africa will offer the world something distinct and exceptional,” Neliaku said.

The World Public Relations Forum is regarded as one of the most prestigious gatherings of communication professionals globally, and this year’s edition is expected to further spotlight Nigeria’s role in advancing strategic communication on the international stage.
