Troops Arrest Five Suspected Kidnappers, Recover Weapons in Borno
Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI, have recorded another operational success in the ongoing fight against terrorism and criminality with the arrest of five suspected kidnappers and the recovery of arms and ammunition in Magumeri Local Government Area of Borno State.
The operation was carried out following credible intelligence on the activities of criminal elements operating along a known criminal corridor within the area. Acting swiftly on the information, troops launched a coordinated operation that led to the arrest of the suspects, believed to be members of a kidnapping syndicate responsible for terrorising residents in parts of the state.
During the operation, soldiers recovered two AK-47 rifles, magazines and ammunition, significantly disrupting the group’s operational capability and preventing further criminal activities.
Military sources said preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects are linked to kidnapping and other criminal acts within Borno State and surrounding communities. The suspects are currently in custody and are assisting security agencies with ongoing investigations aimed at identifying and apprehending other members of the syndicate as well as dismantling its support network.
The successful operation underscores the sustained efforts of Operation HADIN KAI and the Nigerian Army in combating terrorism, kidnapping and other security threats across the North-East region.
Military authorities reaffirmed their commitment to maintaining pressure on criminal and terrorist elements while ensuring the protection of lives and property in affected communities.
The Nigerian Army also urged members of the public to continue supporting security operations by providing timely and credible information that could assist in preventing crime and enhancing security across the region.
The latest achievement forms part of ongoing military operations aimed at restoring lasting peace, stability and security in Borno State and the wider North-East.
