Troops of the Nigerian Army operating under Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, and Joint Task Force South East, Operation UDO KA, have recorded fresh operational successes with the arrest of suspected criminals and recovery of weapons in Kaduna and Abia states.

According to the Army, the operations were part of ongoing offensives aimed at strengthening internal security and dismantling criminal networks across the country.

In the North West, troops of 2 Battalion deployed at the Forward Operating Base Dogon Dawa intercepted a suspected bandit identified as Ibrahim Adamu during a snap roadblock operation at Damari in Birnin Gwari Local Government Area of Kaduna State on May 8, 2026.

The suspect, who was riding a motorcycle at the time of his arrest, was reportedly found in possession of one AK-47 magazine, three mobile phones, Indian hemp, and other items.

Military authorities said preliminary checks on the suspect’s mobile phone uncovered incriminating photographs allegedly showing him dressed in military camouflage and carrying a PKT machine gun alongside other suspected bandits.

The suspect and recovered items are currently in military custody for further investigation.

In a separate operation in the South East, troops of 14 Brigade under Operation UDO KA responded to a distress call concerning alleged illegal possession of a firearm at Umuoriehe village in Umuahia North Local Government Area of Abia State.

The troops subsequently arrested Ifeanyi Ezebuiro, 22, and recovered a foreign-made Ruger pistol from him.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect reportedly claimed that the firearm belonged to his late father.

The Army said the suspect and the recovered pistol remain in custody pending further investigation.

The Nigerian Army stated that the operations demonstrate its continued determination to deny criminal elements freedom of action and ensure the safety of law-abiding citizens across the country.

It reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive operations against insecurity in line with its constitutional responsibility of protecting Nigeria’s territorial integrity and maintaining national peace.
