Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, in collaboration with other security agencies, have dismantled several terrorist enclaves in Matazu Local Government Area of Katsina State, recovering weapons, motorcycles and other logistical items.

The coordinated offensive operation targeted identified terrorist strongholds in the Maharba and Karaduwa areas, with ground troops supported by synchronised air strikes.

During the operation, the security forces successfully dislodged the terrorists and destroyed key logistical facilities reportedly used to plan and launch attacks across Matazu and neighbouring Musawa Local Government Area.

Troops also targeted the hideout of a suspected terrorist leader identified as Kachalla Muhammadu Filani, who reportedly fled the area under sustained pressure from the advancing forces.

A subsequent search of the abandoned hideout resulted in the recovery of an RPG-7 launcher, motorcycles, several mobile communication devices and assorted logistical and sustainment supplies.

The troops also destroyed temporary shelters and other life-support structures believed to have been used by the terrorists, preventing them from returning to re-establish their presence in the area.

No casualties were recorded among the friendly forces during the operation.

Following the offensive, troops intensified dominance patrols along key routes within the affected axis to consolidate the gains and strengthen the protection of surrounding communities.

The operation is part of sustained efforts under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to dismantle terrorist networks, restrict their freedom of movement and disrupt their capacity to launch attacks against communities across the North-West.
