Troops Foil Livestock Rustling Operation, Recover Stolen Animals in Katsina
Troops of the 17 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have foiled a major livestock rustling operation and recovered a large number of stolen animals during a counter-terrorism operation in Katsina State.

According to SpyeTV News sources, the operation was carried out on June 30, 2026, in collaboration with the Katsina State Community Watch Corps following a distress call from residents reporting the movement of armed terrorists herding stolen livestock around Kaddanya village in Charanchi Local Government Area.
Acting on credible intelligence, the joint security team laid an ambush at Sabari Reraya village, where they intercepted the fleeing suspects.
The troops reportedly engaged the terrorists in a firefight, forcing them to abandon the rustled livestock and flee into the surrounding bush.
Following the operation, security personnel secured the recovered animals, while efforts are ongoing to identify their rightful owners for immediate handover.
Military authorities described the operation as another major success in the ongoing counter-terrorism and anti-banditry campaign under Operation FANSAN YAMMA, reaffirming the commitment of security forces to denying criminal elements freedom of movement and protecting lives and livelihoods across the North-West.
They also commended residents for providing timely intelligence and praised the Katsina State Community Watch Corps for its collaboration, noting that community support remains critical to sustaining operational gains against terrorists and bandits in the region.
