Troops Foil Planned Plateau Attack, Neutralise Armed Militia in Ambush Operation
Troops of 3 Division and Operation SAFE HAVEN have successfully averted a planned attack by armed militia on Teng and Kayarda villages in Qua’an Pan Local Government Area of Plateau State, neutralising three assailants in a swift ambush operation.
Acting on credible intelligence, the military units intercepted the movement of suspected bandits in the early hours of Monday, 27 May 2025. The militia were reportedly en route to unleash violence on the targeted communities when they walked into a well-planned ambush by the troops.
During the encounter, three of the attackers were neutralised, while several others fled with gunshot wounds, abandoning their weapons in the process.

The troops recovered four AK-47 rifles, four magazines, and 56 rounds of 7.62mm (Special) ammunition at the scene. The recovered arms and ammunition are currently in the custody of the military, as efforts are underway to track down the fleeing criminals and recover more illicit weapons.
This latest success underscores the Nigerian Army’s resolve to rid the Joint Operations Area of criminal elements threatening peace and security. The operation also highlights the importance of intelligence-led interventions in countering banditry and insurgency across the country.
Military authorities have reaffirmed their commitment to sustaining the momentum until the region is fully secured.
