Troops of Sector 2, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised a suspected terrorist during a counter-terrorism and anti-banditry operation in Shinkafi Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

The troops, deployed around Galadi in Sokoto State, reportedly spotted a group of suspected terrorists riding motorcycles as they attempted to cross a road within the Shinkafi axis.

The troops engaged the group, neutralising one of the suspects, while others fled into the surrounding area.

During the subsequent search, troops discovered that the deceased suspect was wearing a woodland camouflage vest beneath his traditional kaftan, suggesting his affiliation with the armed group.

Further examination of his mobile phone reportedly uncovered photographs showing him dressed in camouflage and holding what appeared to be a PKT machine gun.

Troops also recovered four mobile phones and ₦30,350 in cash from the suspect.

The operation forms part of ongoing efforts by Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist and bandit networks, deny them freedom of movement and strengthen security across the North-West.
