Troops Neutralise Suspected Terrorist, Recover AK-47 Rifle in Sokoto
Troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA have neutralised a suspected terrorist and recovered an AK-47 rifle with ammunition during an encounter in Soruro Village, Tangaza General Area of Sokoto State.
The operation followed a distress call received by troops of the Forward Operating Base (FOB) Binji concerning the presence of suspected terrorists in the village.
Acting on the report, the troops moved to the location and made contact with the suspected terrorists at about 5:00 a.m. on October 12, 2026, neutralising one of them during the encounter.
Items recovered from the scene included one AK-47 rifle, one magazine and 27 rounds of 7.62mm x 39 ammunition.
The operation highlights the continued efforts of troops under Operation FANSAN YAMMA to respond swiftly to security threats and sustain pressure on terrorist elements across the region.
