Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised several suspected terrorists and recovered firearms, motorcycles and rustled livestock during a fierce encounter in Rabah Local Government Area of Sokoto State.

The operation followed credible intelligence indicating that suspected terrorists were attempting to move rustled livestock through the Maikujera general area of Rabah LGA.

Acting on the intelligence, troops were deployed to intercept the terrorists. However, while advancing towards the suspected location, the troops encountered an attempted ambush by the armed group.

The troops responded swiftly, leveraging their tactical preparedness and firepower to repel the attack and break through the ambush. Several terrorists were neutralised during the engagement, while others fled into the surrounding bushes.

A subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of AK-47 rifles, motorcycles reportedly used by the terrorists and the rustled livestock.

The security situation in Rabah and the Maikujera axis remains calm and stable, with troops maintaining a strong presence in the area to consolidate the gains of the operation.

Troops are also conducting routine patrols and other security operations across the affected communities to deter criminal activities and safeguard residents.

The operation underscores the continued resolve of Operation FANSAN YAMMA to disrupt terrorist activities, recover stolen livestock and deny criminal elements freedom of action across the North-West.
