Troops of Sector 4, Joint Task Force (North East), Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have repelled an attack by Boko Haram and Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) terrorists on Forward Operating Base (FOB) Garaha in Hong Local Government Area of Adamawa State, neutralising six insurgents.

The attack occurred at approximately 9:07 p.m. when the terrorists advanced on foot from the LAR axis in an apparent attempt to overrun the military position.

According to a statement issued on October 13, 2026, by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Joint Task Force (North East), Captain Mohammed Goni, the troops responded with superior firepower and coordinated tactics, forcing the attackers to retreat.

A subsequent search of the area led to the discovery of six terrorist corpses and the recovery of a substantial cache of weapons, ammunition and other equipment.

Items recovered included one PKT machine gun with three ammunition belts containing 67 rounds, six AK-47 rifles, 11 AK-47 magazines, 157 rounds of 7.62mm NATO ammunition, 120 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and one 60mm mortar bomb.

Other recovered items included an Infinix Android phone, a Canon portable video recorder, three camelback water bags, one magazine carrier and assorted clothing.

The statement disclosed that troops also sustained casualties during the encounter, adding that wounded personnel were receiving medical attention while evacuation arrangements were ongoing.

Troops have since maintained heightened vigilance and continued search operations around the area to prevent further attacks and recover additional items of operational significance.

The Theatre Command reaffirmed its commitment to sustained, intelligence-driven operations to restrict terrorist movements, protect vulnerable communities and strengthen efforts to restore lasting peace and security across the North-East.
