Troops of the Joint Task Force North East, Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK), have successfully repelled multiple coordinated infiltration attempts by suspected ISWAP terrorists across parts of Borno State in the early hours of Friday.

According to a statement by the Acting Military Information Officer, Headquarters Operation HADIN KAI, Captain Mohammed Goni, the failed attacks occurred between 12:20 a.m. and 2:30 a.m. on July 10, 2026.

The statement said the terrorists attempted to infiltrate Muna Garage, Shuwari Village and the Ajilari Cross axis with the apparent intention of gaining access into the Maiduguri metropolis.

However, troops, aided by early warning mechanisms, detected the movement of the insurgents and swiftly engaged them with coordinated and accurate firepower from multiple directions, successfully foiling all infiltration attempts.

In separate incidents, troops also repelled additional infiltration attempts by the terrorists at Miringa and Dutsen Kura in Buratai.

During the pursuit of the fleeing insurgents at Miringa, a Mine-Resistant Ambush Protected (MRAP) vehicle triggered an Improvised Explosive Device (IED). The military confirmed that no casualties were recorded among the troops, while the security situation remains under control.

The military said the terrorists, overwhelmed by the troops’ rapid tactical response, were forced to abandon their mission and retreat in disarray across all operational axes.

Troops have since launched clearance and exploitation operations to track down the fleeing terrorists, consolidate operational gains, dominate the affected areas and prevent further threats to surrounding communities.

Operation HADIN KAI reaffirmed its commitment to sustaining aggressive offensive operations aimed at denying terrorists freedom of movement while protecting lives and property across the North-East.

The military also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible information to security agencies to support ongoing counter-terrorism operations in the region.
