Air Vice Marshall (AVM) Eneobong Effiom,  Air Officer Commanding (AOC)  Special Operations Command (SOC) Bauchi has tasked Nigerian Air Force (NAF) personnel to respect other people’s cultures for unity and purpose.

Effiom made the call at the annual Base Socio-cultural Activities (BASA), held at NAF Base on Saturday in Bauchi

He implored the personnel to tolerate and respect each other’s culture and tradition for the unity of the country.

“Working together as one entity enhances peace, unity and stability among the citizens,” he said

AOC Effiom, represented by his Chief of Staff, AVM Razak Olarewaju explained that  BASA is an annual activity that brings soldiers together to participate in their local cultural activities.

In his words, “It is the avenue to showcase diverse cultures of the base communities across the country and to appreciate the hard work and gallantry of individual soldiers during the year.

“It also promotes civil-military relationships with members of host communities.”

He said that having worked throughout the year, it was important to organise the event to socialise with one another.

The AOC commended officers and Airmen/women of the Command for their service and hard work from the beginning to the end of the year.

In a remark, Alhaji Ahmed Chiroma, Special Adviser to Governor Bala Mohammed of Bauchi State, who is a special guest of honour at the Base urged the personnel to remain steadfast in their responsibilities.

He commended the NAF for organising BASA for personnel who worked within and outside the base with their families to eat, dance and socialise in the base.

Chiroma assured that the State Government would continue to support and collaborate with NAF on the promotion of security and peace in the state and the country at large.

Highlights of the activities include cultural dance by the three major tribes in the country, NYSC members’ drama, tug of war between female corps members and airwomen and airmen and troops from 33 Artillery Brigade Bauchi and presentation of awards.
