APC North Central Congress Backs Tinubu as Sole Candidate for 2027 Election
Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago was among top dignitaries who attended the All Progressives Congress (APC) North Central Congress held at the Akwe Doma Banquet Hall, Government House, Lafia, Nasarawa State.

At the event, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, moved a motion for the adoption of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu as the sole APC candidate for the 2027 presidential election. The motion was seconded by Governor Abdullahi Sule.
Speaking at the congress, Akume expressed optimism that the North Central region would deliver the highest number of votes for President Tinubu in the next election cycle, noting that the region remains critical to the country’s political landscape and development.
He commended APC governors for what he described as strong performance across their states and acknowledged the significant contributions of the North Central zone to national growth.
Representing the APC National Chairman, Nentawe Yilwatda, the Deputy National Secretary, Prof. Abdulkarim Abubakar Kana, congratulated newly inaugurated zonal officials and urged them to uphold the party’s values and ideals. He described the North Central as a strategic stronghold of the party and praised its continued support for the Renewed Hope Agenda.
In his remarks, the APC North Central Zonal Chairman, Mu’azu Bawa Rijau, expressed appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, pledging dedication and loyalty to the party’s progress.
The congress was attended by a wide range of party stakeholders, including serving and former governors, members of the National Assembly, state lawmakers, party executives, and other statutory delegates from across the North Central zone.
The gathering underscores the APC’s early political positioning ahead of the 2027 general elections, with strong signals of support for President Tinubu’s potential re-election bid.
