Army calls for technological upgrade to tackle insecurity

The Nigerian Army (NA) has stressed the need for modern technology and new operational strategies to effectively combat insecurity in the country.

Maj. Gen. Eyitayo Oyinlola General Officer Commanding (GOC) 3 Division stated this at a four-day training workshop for the 3 Division Operations Planning Cadre 2025, held at the 33 Artillery Brigade Barracks in Bauchi,

General Oyinlola represented by Maj. Gen. Abubakar Ahmed, Commandant of the Nigerian Army Armoured Corps highlighted the significance of continuous training and capacity building.

He explained that the training is designed to strengthen the tactical and operational readiness of junior commanders, ensuring they are well-versed in evolving military innovations, policies, and procedures within the Army and allied forces.

“The aim is to refresh their understanding of their roles, enhance strategic thinking, and better equip them to handle emerging threats through the integration of new technologies,” he stated.

Gen. Oyinlola further stressed the importance of interagency cooperation in confronting the asymmetric warfare currently facing the nation, where identifying adversaries is increasingly difficult.

He called for active participation from all stakeholders government entities, security agencies, and the public to work together in ensuring the safety and security of Nigerians.

The GOC expressed confidence that the workshop would not only strengthen routine operations but also serve as a platform for sharing ideas and addressing new security challenges.

He urged the participants to make good use of the opportunity provided by the Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General GO Oluyede, by engaging fully with seasoned resource persons throughout the training period.

He reiterated his administration’s commitment to supporting security agencies and fostering collaborative efforts in the fight against insecurity.

Mohammed noted that the strong synergy between the State Government and the Army reflects his administration’s dedication to maintaining peace and security across the state.

The event featured the commissioning of a renovated squash hall, the presentation of souvenirs, and group photographs.
