The Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt. Gen. Olufemi Oluyede, has reaffirmed the Nigerian Army’s unwavering commitment to the welfare of wounded soldiers, pledging support to ensure their swift recovery.
Lt. Gen. Oluyede gave the assurance on Saturday during a visit to the 7 Division Medical Services and Hospital in Maiduguri. He commended the healthcare team at the facility for their dedication to caring for injured personnel.
Recognising the need for specialised care, the COAS directed that soldiers with complicated medical cases be evacuated to the 44 Nigerian Army Reference Hospital in Kaduna for advanced treatment.
During the visit, Oluyede interacted with some of the injured soldiers, encouraging them to remain resilient.
“We will do our best to ensure that you are recuperated so that you can all go back to your duty,” he assured them, emphasising that the Nigerian Army would never abandon its personnel.
The visit underscored the Army’s focus on prioritising the well-being of its troops as a cornerstone of its operational strategy.
