Bandits Abduct Five Nursing Mothers, Steal 50 Cows in Kano Village Raid

Armed bandits launched a late-night attack on Yan Kwada village in the Faruruwa community of Shanono Local Government Area, Kano State, on Sunday, abducting five nursing mothers and stealing 50 cows along with other livestock.

Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants, who arrived on motorcycles, invaded the community around midnight, shooting sporadically and causing chaos as residents fled for safety.

Confirming the incident, Alhaji Yahya Bagobiri, Chairman of the Security Committee for Faruruwa and neighboring villages, described the situation as “deeply worrisome,” noting that the community has endured repeated attacks despite the presence of security personnel in the area.

Bagobiri revealed that the bandits separated the babies from their mothers before abducting the women. One of the kidnapped victims later managed to escape, while four others remain in captivity.

He called on security agencies and the state government to intensify patrols and reinforce security in the affected communities to prevent further attacks.

The latest incident adds to growing concerns over the resurgence of rural banditry in parts of northern Nigeria, where villages continue to suffer abductions, cattle rustling, and displacement despite ongoing security operations.
