Bauchi Govt Reaffirms Commitment to Sustainable WASH Services

The Bauchi State Government has reiterated its dedication to providing sustainable Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) services statewide, aligning with the national action plan for revitalizing the WASH sector.
The State Commissioner for Water Resources, Alhaji Nuhu Zaki, made this commitment at a workshop on disseminating the Bauchi Water Sector Law and inaugurating the Technical Working Group (TWG) for WASH Policy on Thursday in BauchI
According to him, the government is committed upgrading water treatment plants to ensure safe drinking water
“Community outreach and school programs to foster handwashing, proper sanitation, and hygiene habits.
“Partnering with NGOs, private sector entities, and community groups to ensure WASH services sustainability.
*Enhanced Water Conservation*: Improving water conservation and waste management practices,” he said
Director General of Bauchi State Environmental Protection Agency (BASEPA), Dr. Mahmood Bose, emphasized the government’s commitment to improving sanitation and hygiene, promoting public health, environmental sustainability, and economic development.
Wateraid Nigeria’s Head of Communication, Policy, and Advocacy, Mr. Kolawale Banwo, urged prioritization of sustainable WASH facilities to improve public health and quality of life.
He stressed the need for upgraded infrastructure, increased funding, and community engagement to mitigate water-borne diseases and enhance economic productivity.
