Winner of Big Brother Naija Season 7, Ijeoma Otabor, popularly known as Phyna, has responded strongly to critics questioning her decision to undergo cosmetic surgery months after the death of her sister.

The reality TV star recently revealed she had a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) and 360 liposuction procedure, sharing a post-surgery video that quickly went viral with the caption, “Finally did it. No regrets.”

Her decision sparked backlash on social media, with some users accusing her of being insensitive due to the timing, following the passing of her sister, Ruth Otabor.

Speaking during an Instagram livestream, Phyna dismissed the criticism, describing many Nigerians as hypocritical and insisting that grief is a deeply personal experience.

“I don’t grieve my sister online. She will always remain in my heart. But one thing people will never see is me come online to cry,” she said.

She cautioned critics against involving her late sister in online debates, stressing that her loss is private and not subject to public judgment.

Phyna also defended her family’s ability to move forward after the burial, noting that life continues even after loss. According to her, people should be allowed to heal in their own way without societal pressure.

Addressing her surgery, the influencer remained unapologetic, revealing plans to confidently showcase her new look while also attributing part of her decision to previous online criticism of her body.

The development has generated mixed reactions online, with supporters backing her right to make personal choices, while others continue to question the timing.
