BRAVE-IT Hosts National Security Breakfast in Abuja, Invites Stakeholders to Discuss Inter-Agency Collaboration, Citizens’ Role in Combating Insecurity

By Matthew Eloyi

In a bold step toward enhancing Nigeria’s response to violent extremism and growing security threats, BRAVE-IT (Building Resilience Against Violent Extremism, Insurgency, and Terrorism) is set to host its 2025 National Security Breakfast Meeting on Thursday, July 10, 2025, at 3Js Hotel, Abuja.

This is contained in a press release made available to our correspondent on Tuesday night in Abuja.

Themed “Inter-Agency Collaborations and Citizens’ Cooperation in the Fight Against Kidnapping, Insurgency and Terrorism in Nigeria,” the high-level event will convene top military and paramilitary officials, civil society leaders, development partners, and grassroots stakeholders for a robust dialogue on security cooperation and strategic response frameworks.

According to the press statement, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa, and the National Security Adviser, Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, are expected to deliver keynote addresses. Also expected are senior representatives from the military, police, Nigeria Immigration Service, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, the Department of State Services (DSS), and other relevant agencies.

According to BRAVE-IT’s National Coordinator, Sir AK Peters, the breakfast meeting will provide an opportunity to foster stronger cooperation between security institutions and citizens in confronting Nigeria’s evolving security challenges.

“Our nation is at a critical juncture,” Peters said. “The threats we face, from kidnapping to insurgency, cannot be solved in silos. We must work across agencies, across communities, and across divides.”

The event will feature panel discussions focused on inter-agency strategy, trust-building, and legal frameworks, as well as case presentations of successful community-based security interventions. An interactive session will also allow security personnel and civil society leaders to engage directly on operational and strategic concerns.

A communiqué outlining key recommendations and action points will be issued at the conclusion of the meeting.

BRAVE-IT has extended invitations to media organisations, think tanks, and security correspondents to attend and cover the event.
