Cabinet Reshuffle: President Tinubu to Swear in New Ministers on Monday

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is set to swear in seven newly appointed ministers on Monday, following a recent cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening his administration amid economic challenges.
The President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, confirmed the development in a statement on Sunday, listing the new appointees.
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will swear in the new seven ministers tomorrow, Monday. The Ministers are Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda – Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction; Muhammadu Maigari Dingyadi – Minister of Labour & Employment; Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu – Minister of State, Foreign Affairs,” he said.
Onanuga added that the additional appointments include “Dr. Jumoke Oduwole – Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment; Idi Mukhtar Maiha – Minister of Livestock Development; Yusuf Abdullahi Ata – Minister of State, Housing and Urban Development; and Dr. Suwaiba Said Ahmad – Minister of State, Education.”
The swearing-in follows last week’s Senate screening and confirmation of the ministers in Abuja, who were nominated after the President reshuffled his cabinet in response to calls for change.
Tinubu had previously appointed 48 ministers in August 2023, but a slowing economy and growing demand for more targeted governance led him to make adjustments.
Among the new roles, Bianca Odinaka Odumegwu-Ojukwu takes on the position of Minister of State, Foreign Affairs, while Dr. Nentawe Yilwatda assumes the role of Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, replacing suspended Betta Edu.
The reshuffle saw Maigari Dingyadi appointed as Minister of Labour and Employment, Dr. Jumoke Oduwole as Minister of Industry, Trade, and Investment, and Idi Maiha heading the newly created Ministry of Livestock Development.
Yusuf Ata becomes the Minister of State for Housing and Urban Development, while Dr. Suwaiba Ahmad takes on the role of Minister of State, Education.
In the reshuffle, five ministers were relieved of their duties, including Uju-Ken Ohanenye (Women Affairs), Lola Ade-John (Tourism), Tahir Mamman (Education), Abdullahi Gwarzo (State, Housing, and Urban Development), and Jamila Ibrahim (Youth Development).
This restructuring is expected to drive the administration’s efforts to address economic challenges while enhancing policy effectiveness across key sectors.
