Cardoso Leads Nigerian Delegation to ECOWAS Committee of Governors Meeting in Monrovia
The Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Mr. Olayemi Cardoso, led Nigeria’s delegation to the Committee of Governors Meeting recently held in Monrovia, Liberia.

The delegation also included the CBN Deputy Governor (Economic Policy), Dr. Muhammad Sani Abdullahi, alongside other senior officials.
The meeting formed part of the ongoing statutory engagements jointly organised by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), West African Monetary Agency (WAMA), West African Monetary Institute (WAMI), and West African Institute for Financial and Economic Management (WAIFEM).
The high-level gathering brought together central bank governors and financial policymakers from across the region to deliberate on key monetary and financial integration issues, including progress toward the proposed single currency for West Africa.
Discussions focused on strengthening macroeconomic convergence, enhancing monetary cooperation, and addressing technical and institutional requirements necessary for the successful implementation of a regional currency framework.
The meeting underscored renewed commitment among member states to deepen economic integration and advance financial stability within the West African sub-region.
