The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Gwabin Musa, has called on front-line troops to remain steadfast in their mission to safeguard Nigeria’s unity.

He made this statement on Thursday during a Christmas celebration feast with the troops of Operation FANSAN YAMMA in Sokoto State.

This was contained in a press statement by Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Director of Defence Information, made available to newsmen in Abuja.

Speaking at the occasion, General Musa commended the troops for their unwavering dedication and sacrifices in ensuring the nation’s safety and security.

He noted the successful dislodgement of Lakurawa terrorists from camps in Sokoto and Kebbi States as a clear demonstration of the Armed Forces of Nigeria’s (AFN) commitment to addressing security challenges.

He pledged to sustain the operational tempo and posture across all military deployments, both domestic and international.

The CDS reassured troops of the necessary support and resources to execute their duties effectively.

He also emphasized the importance of fostering unity, understanding, and compassion in their responsibilities.

General Musa expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his relentless support and confidence in his leadership.

He also thanked Sokoto State Governor, Dr. Ahmad Aliyu, for his backing of the military’s efforts.

During the visit, the CDS took time to visit wounded and sick soldiers of the 8 Division, Nigeria Army, at their hospital beds, demonstrating his personal commitment to their welfare.

Major General IS Ajose, the General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander of Sector 2 Operation FANSAN YAMMA, described the feast as a testament to General Musa’s dedication to troop welfare, morale, and operational efficiency.

He praised the CDS for his frequent visits over the past three months, which he said provided an opportunity to understand the troops’ performance and challenges.

“This feast is not just about celebrating Christmas but reflecting on our collective sacrifices, achievements, and teamwork,” Major General Ajose remarked.

He saluted the troops’ courage, resilience, and professionalism, emphasizing that these qualities have been instrumental in achieving operational successes.

The event reinforced the commitment of the Armed Forces to national security and unity while fostering camaraderie among troops during the festive season.
