Pastor Alex Ogundipe, Senior Pastor of Cherubim and Seraphim Movement Church, Daki-Biyu District, Kubwa, Abuja, popularly known as ‘The Peculiar People’ has called on Christians to submit fully to the will of God in order to succeed in their spiritual journey.

Ogundipe made the appeal during the church’s 20th anniversary celebration on Sunday, stressing that many believers miss divine mercy because they fail to follow God’s instructions.

Citing the biblical example of Jonah, he said: “Jonah was sent by God to preach in Nineveh, but he fled to Tarshish instead. As a result, God’s mercy departed from him.”

According to the cleric, until believers completely align with God’s directive, progress may remain elusive, referencing Jonah 2:8.

He further urged Christians to emulate the obedience of Isaac, who willingly submitted to his father Abraham at Mount Moriah during a test of faith. “You must pass through your own Moriah, like Isaac, before reaching your Rehoboth – the place of rest and fruitfulness,” he said.

Church members in worship mood

Pastor Ogundipe encouraged members to offer themselves wholly to Christ, obey His commands, and grow in the knowledge of the Word. He described the church’s mandate as evangelism-focused, hence its identity as a “Centre for Deliverance Through Evangelism.”

Also speaking at the event, Pastor Bisi Olanrewaju, of Cherubim and Seraphim Bible Church, Lagos, who delivered a sermon titled “My Life: His Tabernacle,” said Christians must renew their commitment to Christ and become vessels of His presence.

“A life becomes God’s tabernacle when one is born again, reads the scriptures daily, maintains personal devotion, and seeks counsel from mature believers,” he said.

The anniversary celebration featured thanksgiving, gift presentations, choir ministrations, and the cutting of a commemorative cake – all in gratitude for God’s faithfulness over the last two decades.

According to the 20th Anniversary Planning Committee Chairperson, Special Mothrt Margret Ohenhen, the Church as part of its celebration, will on July 19, commission a borehole donated to the Pese Community in Byazhin Across, Kubwa.
