In a significant stride towards fostering community engagement and civil-military cooperation, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt-General Taoreed Lagbaja commissioned the COAS Special Intervention Civil-Military Cooperation Projects (CSICP) in Igbobini, Ese-Odo Local Government Area of Ondo State.
The CSICP, a visionary initiative by the Nigerian Army, aims to strengthen the bond between civilian communities and serving generals, thereby enhancing relationships within the diverse fabric of the nation.
Lt-General Lagbaja emphasised the project’s uniqueness, specifically tailored to support communities of senior army officers who have dedicated themselves to the service of the nation and achieved the esteemed rank of Major General.
Major General Olusegun Samson Abai, the Project Executor, expressed gratitude to the COAS for green-lighting the execution of CSICP, which encompasses the renovation and furnishing of a block of three classrooms and two offices at Comprehensive High School Igbobini.
In his remarks, he urged the students and staff to take responsibility for maintaining these facilities to ensure their longevity.
Mr. Okon, the principal of Comprehensive High School Igbobini, conveyed his appreciation for being selected as the beneficiary of CSICP, praising the Nigerian Army for the swift completion of the project.
He pledged to uphold the maintenance standards of the newly renovated facilities.
The Council of Chiefs also extended their goodwill messages, emphasizing the positive impact the project would have on delivering quality education in the community.
Dignitaries present at the commissioning ceremony included His Royal Majesty Oba Engr Oyedele Raphael, the Olu of Igbobini Kingdom, accompanied by his council of chiefs.
The Ondo State Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, as well as Bar Abai Elisha (rtd), added to the distinguished guests celebrating this significant step towards community development.
