COAS Hails Kano Residents For Constant Support

Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), has praised Kano State residents for their unwavering support for the Nigerian Army (NA) and other security services.

In a statement issued by Lieutenant Colonel Musa Yahaya, Acting Deputy Director, Army Public Relations 1 Division, the Army Chief expressed his gratitude during the inauguration ceremony of the newly restored Fagge Model Primary School in Kano State’s Fagge Local Government Area.

The Army Chief, represented by Major General Valentine Okoro, General Officer Commanding 1 Division NA and Force Commander Operation Whirl Punch, stated that the Nigerian Army places a high value on non-kinetic lines of operation, particularly in host communities where military operations are being carried out.

General Lagbaja commended the project executor, Major General Auwal Fagge, whom he described as an illustrious son of the Local Government and commended Kano State for producing an eminently qualified Major General, who has served in different capacities in the course of his illustrious career.

He pointed out that renovation of the school as well as provision of desks and seats, furnishing of laboratory and computer room, staff rooms, head teachers and principal offices, toilet for pupils, installation of solar panels and batteries for the computer room computer tables, chairs for the classrooms amongst other critical facilities is part of the NA’s non-kinetic efforts at containing the multifaceted security challenges facing the Nation.

The COAS used the opportunity to appreciate the President, Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his continuous strategic guidance and invaluable support to the NA. He reassured the President of the unalloyed loyalty of the officers and soldiers of the Nigerian Army and to the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria

In a remark, the Chief of Civil Military Affairs (Army), Major General Nosa Ugbo, made reference to the immense contribution and the mutual benefit of the project. He commended the foresight of the COAS and expressed his profound gratitude for the perfect and timely execution of the project.

Similarly, the representative of the Executive Governor of Kano State, the Acting Chairman State Universal Basic Education Board, Hajiya Amina Umar commended the architectural prowess of the school which provides conducive environment for learning and understanding for the pupils. She also reiterated the importance of education to the society and thanked the COAS for the facelift.

Earlier in a remark, the project Executor, Maj Gen Auwal Fagge thanked the COAS for honouring him with the CIMIC project in his community and for granting him the honour of writing his name in the good book of his people. He further urged the community to make good use of the school and the facilities provided.

The NA has completed more than 170 projects in the country’s six geographic zones, while promising to do more to improve the lives of citizens.

Hon Shehu Ibrahim, Chairman of Fagge Local Government Area, thanked the NA on behalf of the community for utilising their son to make a difference in their life.

Highlights of the event were the students’ vibrant cultural displays, the cutting of the commissioning tape, the uncovering of the commissioning plaque, a tour of the commissioned project, the gift of souvenirs, and a group pgotograph.
