COAS Inaugurates HQ Finance Corps Office Complex, Pledges Unwavering Commitment to Nigerian Army’s Development
Lieutenant General Taoored Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), presided over the commissioning of the newly constructed Headquarters Nigerian Army Finance Corps (NAFC) office complex on Friday, March 22, 2024, marking a significant milestone in the infrastructural development of the Nigerian Army.
Addressing attendees at the commissioning ceremony, including former COAS Lieutenant General Faruk Yahaya and other dignitaries, the COAS emphasised the importance of providing a conducive working environment to enhance productivity and the well-being of employees. He stated, “We must ensure our personnel have the necessary facilities to perform their duties optimally.”
Highlighting the evolution of the Corps since its establishment in 1964, the COAS praised its contributions to professionalism within the Nigerian Army through policy formulations, manpower restructuring, and specialized training of personnel. He remarked, “The Nigerian Army Finance Corps has played a vital role in shaping our military’s operational effectiveness over the years.”
The COAS expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his unwavering support of the Nigerian Army, reaffirming the Army’s commitment to upholding democracy and the rule of law. He asserted, “The Nigerian Army remains dedicated to safeguarding our nation’s sovereignty and preserving peace and stability.”
In his remarks, Major General Adetokunbo Fayemiwo, the Chief of Accounts and Budget (Army), emphasised the necessity of the newly inaugurated office complex in enabling the Finance Corps to effectively carry out its functions, including budgeting, accounting, auditing, and financial management of all NA funds. He said, “The commissioning of this office complex signifies a significant step forward in enhancing the operational capabilities of the Nigerian Army Finance Corps.”
