Commissioner tasks NAWOJ on professionalism

Mr Yakubu Lawal, the Nasarawa State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, has urged members of Nigeria Association of Women Journalists (NAWOJ), Nasarawa State Chapter, to uphold professionalism in the interest of peace and development.

Lawal made the call on Friday when officials of NAWOJ paid him a courtesy call.

He said that if journalists continue to maintain professionalism, it would not only promote peace but the nation’s socio-economic development.

“I want to appreciate you for your visit and to assure you of my readiness to support you to succeed.

“I want to call on you to continue to maintain professionalism in the interest of peace and development.

“I also want to call on you to support government policies and programmes by publicising its activities at all times,” he said.

Lawal assured the union of the state government commitment to support journalists in their activities in the state to succeed.

He called on the people of the state to continue to support Gov. Sule Abdullahi’s administration to succeed beyond 2023.

The commissioner urged the people of the state to live in peace, be their brother’s keepers and tolerate one another irrespective of their affiliations.

Earlier, Mrs Hadiza Umar, the NAWOJ Chairperson, said that the visit was to identify with the commissioner over his appointment as a member of the State Executive Council.

Umar assured the commissioner of their readiness to synergize with him in order to publicise government activities
