The Honourable Minister of Defence, Christopher Gwabin Musa (Rtd), has presided over a decoration ceremony for newly promoted senior officers of the Nigerian Army, reaffirming the Armed Forces’ commitment to recognising excellence and dedicated service.
The ceremony, held at the Ministry of Defence, saw Lieutenant Colonel NV Olimma and Lieutenant Colonel S Yakuba formally decorated with their new ranks following their elevation in the recent promotion exercise.
In his remarks, the Minister commended the officers for their professionalism, discipline, and unwavering loyalty to the nation, noting that their promotion reflects years of hard work and sacrifice in service to Nigeria.
A notable highlight of the event was the participation of the officers’ spouses, who assisted in decorating their partners—symbolising the vital role of family support in military careers.
The occasion attracted senior military officers, both serving and retired, as well as family members and well-wishers, underscoring the strong tradition of camaraderie within the Nigerian Armed Forces.
The decoration forms part of a broader promotion exercise approved by the Nigerian Army, aimed at strengthening leadership capacity and enhancing operational effectiveness across its ranks.
The Ministry reiterated that such recognitions remain essential in boosting morale and maintaining the high standards expected of personnel in safeguarding the nation’s security.
