Easter: Tinubu Urges Unity, Sacrifice as Nigeria Navigates Economic, Security Challenges

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has called on Nigerians to remain united, resilient, and supportive of ongoing reforms as the country confronts economic and security challenges.

In his Easter message to citizens at home and abroad on Friday, the President highlighted the spiritual significance of the season, noting that the crucifixion and resurrection of Jesus Christ symbolise sacrifice, hope, and the triumph of light over darkness.

According to Tinubu, the lessons of Easter strongly resonate with Nigeria’s current realities, as the nation continues efforts to overcome economic strain and insecurity.

He acknowledged the persistent security threats across parts of the country, while commending the Armed Forces for their sacrifices in confronting terrorism and banditry. The President assured that his administration remains committed to providing necessary resources and strengthening international partnerships to tackle insecurity decisively.

Reflecting on his recent visit to Jos, Tinubu said he shared in the grief of victims and reassured residents of improved security and better days ahead. He added that security chiefs have given strong assurances of progress, supported by both local and international collaboration.

The President emphasised that national unity remains critical to achieving peace and development, warning that no country can thrive in an atmosphere of fear or sustain progress without stability.

Tinubu also urged Nigerians to support lawful efforts aimed at restoring peace, encouraging citizens to look out for one another and reject forces that threaten collective well-being.

On the economy, he maintained that ongoing reforms, though challenging in the short term, are designed to deliver long-term shared prosperity. He reiterated that meaningful transformation requires sacrifice, noting that history has shown that lasting progress is often achieved during difficult periods.

As the country gradually approaches another electoral cycle, the President called for responsible political participation, stressing that the Electoral Act must guide political actors and parties.

“Democracy flourishes where responsibility, restraint, and informed participation prevail,” he said.

Expressing optimism, Tinubu noted that improving economic indicators signal that the nation is on the right path, assuring Nigerians that “a new dawn is on the horizon.”

He thanked citizens for their continued support and trust in his administration, pledging to remain committed to building a more secure, prosperous, and democratic Nigeria.
