EFCC Arrests Woman in Maiduguri Over Alleged Naira Mutilation
Operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Maiduguri Zonal Directorate, have arrested a woman, Fatima Muhammed, over alleged mutilation of the Nigerian currency.
The suspect was apprehended on Tuesday following a viral video on TikTok, where she was seen using a ₦500 note in an inappropriate manner.
According to the Commission, the video triggered public concern, prompting swift action by operatives who tracked and arrested the suspect within the Maiduguri metropolis.
The EFCC disclosed that Fatima Muhammed is currently in custody and undergoing investigation at its Maiduguri detention facility.
The anti-graft agency added that she would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
