The monarch made the call while speaking during a courtesy visit by the Publisher of Our Nigeria News Magazine and members of his management team at his palace in Doma, Nasarawa State.
According to the Emir, Nigeria’s major challenges including insecurity, desperation, social conflict, and underdevelopment are not a result of lack of capacity, but the failure to properly organize and deploy the country’s abundant excellence for national progress.
He noted that Nigerians rank among the best professionals globally, particularly in science, technology, finance, and leadership, pointing to their strong presence in strategic positions within major global economic institutions, including Wall Street in the United States.
The Emir stressed that while Nigerians contribute significantly to the growth and development of other nations, the same level of commitment and structure is lacking at home.
“If we can develop other countries with our excellence, then we can build our own nation better,” the monarch said, adding that if even 50 percent of Nigeria’s global human capital were redirected inward, the country would no longer depend on foreign systems for survival or validation.
Speaking on natural resource management, His Royal Majesty expressed concern over the continued exploitation of Nigeria’s resources with minimal benefit to government and host communities. He advocated for structured partnerships that ensure national ownership, transparency, and value addition before export.
The Emir further emphasized the need for long-term planning that prioritizes future generations, urging policymakers to preserve strategic resources while investing in education, innovation, and human capital development.
He called for sincere national dialogue involving government, institutions, and citizens, aimed at reassessing past mistakes, redefining national priorities, and building a more inclusive and prosperous future.
The Emir concluded by urging Nigerians to change their mindset, embrace purposeful leadership, and work collectively toward making the future of the country better than the present.
